If you are considering installing a biomass boiler within your Woking industrial or commercial property, the good news is that there are Government incentives to offset the costs.

The Government is keen for Woking businesses to embrace renewable energy through systems such as biomass boilers because of its commitments through the Climate Change Act to reduce carbon emissions.  The UK has agreed to reduce emissions by 80% of 1990 levels by 2050. By 2015 emissions had decreased by 38% of those in 1990, but there was still a great deal of progress to be made.

One of the schemes that the Government has introduced is the Non-Domestic Renewable Heat Incentive. Woking businesses, public sector organisations and charitable organisations that install and use biomass boilers, or other renewable sources of energy, are given regular payments for the following 20 years.

To receive payments through the incentive scheme, Woking organisations that install biomass boilers must comply with certain obligations. These include:

• submitting meter readings and periodic data
• starting a fuel log and keeping fuel purchase receipts
• ensuring the fuel you use is sustainable and reporting on this quarterly
• maintaining and servicing the equipment as per manufacturer instructions and keeping a log and maintenance/service receipts
• signing and submitting an annual declaration.
